Michael Leuchter, MD, MSc

Michael is a Clinical and Research Fellow in Geriatric Psychiatry and Neuromodulation working in both the Vossel lab and the UCLA Neuromodulation Division. He completed medical school, psychiatry residency, and his MSc in Clinical Research at UCLA.  His ongoing clinical work at both UCLA and the West Los Angeles VA are in keeping with his passion for supporting patients with cognitive impairment and their families (which he developed through his work with the UCLA Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Program before medical school).  His ongoing research work examines the use of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS, a tool often used to treat depression) as a treatment for memory loss in Alzheimer’s Disease. He currently leads the PROMIS-AD (Protocol for Maintaining and Improving Mental Status in Alzheimer's Disease) study, which is piloting this novel TMS protocol.
